Mötley hit their all-time peak with The Doctor 1989. After that comercial success they put themselfes on high horses, released a compilation album "Decade of decadence" in 1991 witch included a couple of new songs: The punkrocky Pistols cover "Anarchy", the horrible & long forgotten "Angela", the heavy live classic "Primal Scream", the outtake from low mark motion picture Pink Cadillac called "Rock N Roll Junkie" + one of the best recordings they ever made in hot and sexy "Teaser".
These where the last songs they did together with the original line-up before fireing bully frontman Vince. Then Nikki and his soldiers hired cool singer/guitarist John Corabi for a good grunge/alternative atempt in 1994 that didn't sell to the fanbase at the time mainly because they didn't sound like the Crüe at all and they didn't gather any new followers either cus all the light was on the Seattle scene at the time and nobody gave a rats ass about poser bands from Sunset Strip anymore.
After that misscount Elektra Records forced back Vince for a first dissapointing reunioun including the release of industrial flavoured pissrat "Generation Swine" in 1997: An album so damn poor that Pretty Boy Floyd's "Leather Boyz with Electric Toyz" sounds like "Stairway to heaven" in comparission. After another comercial misscalculation they had to put out another compilation album this time called "The Greatest Hits" in 1998 witch included two new decent tunes in "Enslaved" & "Bitter Pill" that sounded a bit like the old times and probably gave birth to retro styled "New Tattoo" in 2001 on witch Ozzy drummer Randy Castillo+ handled the drumsticks due to Tommy Lee's prison abscense. Even if the time was right, The Darkness was flying high on the charts and Party Metal was back the album and the tour failed to sell big time. Result, Mötley Crüe stopped making music since nobody was interested in them anymore. The only thing they got was their history. To a result of that they started to write their memoires all combined in the bestselling book "The Dirt". Finally success again after 10+ years in the shadows. To follow up the book they did a 2ond comeback. This time very successful. Worldwide tour, a third compilation album called "Red White & Crüe" including new hit single "If i die tomorrow". The "Saints of Los Angeles" album is the hard worked result of a band desperatly wanting to establish themselfes on top of the sleaze-chain again with lyrics like "Do you remember when we where young, got loded like a shotgun, we where on the run" etc etc etc. Instead of looking forward, elevate further they simply closes it all with bitter sweer nostalgica.

Togar
Saints of Los Angeles is the album Mötley should have released right after Dr feelgood. Instead they tried to be cool and make cash and released a couple of record with mixed quality. If they this time got lucky or understood what the fans wanted, or maybe its the fact that they took help from Dj Asba and James Michael. Mötley is breathing fresh air again. After New Tattoo wich very well could have been there last breath, the song White Trash Circus say it all. Its perfect for a warm cozy evening a couple of beers, moon shine sitting ouside your trailer And your Dog with one leg curling up against you.
